The Palestinian Government's media office has revealed the blatant aggression of Israeli forces on the Gaza Strip, targeting civilians by shelling residential areas, markets, shops, and shelters.
Equivalent to an Atomic Bomb
In a statement regarding the Israeli assaults, Salama Marouf, head of the Gaza government's office, stated that the magnitude of explosives dropped on Gaza is equivalent to the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
According to the statement, Israeli forces have attacked Gaza with over 12,000 tons of explosives since October 7th, averaging around 33 tons of explosives per square kilometer. The statement also highlighted that the total force of explosives dropped on Gaza so far matches the atomic bomb dropped by the United States on the Japanese city of Hiroshima during World War II.
Half of the Sector's Homes Damaged
The statement noted that more than 183,000 homes, equivalent to half of the residences in Gaza, have been damaged, with 28,000 of them completely destroyed or rendered uninhabitable. Furthermore, one in every 100 people in Gaza was either killed or injured due to the Israeli attacks. Additionally, 75 public institutions and dozens of service facilities suffered severe damage as a result of the aggression.
Targeting Places of Worship
Regarding the targeting of places of worship, the statement mentioned that "35 mosques were completely destroyed, and three churches suffered significant damage, most notably the Church of the Orthodox Romans, which is the third oldest church in the world."
Over a Million Displaced
The statement stated that internationally prohibited ammunition, such as white phosphorus bombs, was used by Israeli forces, causing burns and melting to the bodies of the martyrs. It added that 1.4 million displaced people, equivalent to 70% of Gaza's population, sought refuge in 222 shelters, with 100 of them located in Gaza and northern Gaza.
Condemnation of Western Media
The statement condemned some Western media outlets, without naming them, for siding with the Israeli occupation. It stated that these organizations sided with the aggressor against the victims, including children, women, elders, and innocent civilians in Gaza.
Rising Death Toll
The number of martyrs has risen to over 6,000, most of whom are women and children, with over 18,000 injured so far in the continuous attacks on Gaza for the past 19 days, as reported by the Palestinian news agency "WAFA."
