The American police have accused a man of committing a hate crime after he stabbed a Palestinian-American boy and his mother due to their Islamic faith.
Joseph Chuba, 71, was charged with the murder of a 6-year-old boy and the injury of a 32-year-old woman in the town of Plainfield, Illinois.
The Mayor's Office of Will County stated that the targeting was a result of the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel in the Gaza Strip. They added that on Saturday morning, they received an emergency call from the woman, informing them that she had been attacked by the homeowner where she lived. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the boy and the woman with "multiple wounds to the chest, torso, and upper extremities."
The two victims, the child Wadih El-Fayoumi and his mother Hanan Shahin, were transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, the boy later succumbed to his injuries, having suffered 26 stab wounds.
