AC Milan's seasoned striker, Olivier Giroud, has found himself on the wrong side of a two-match suspension following his dismissal in the recent league match against Lecce, as reported by the Italian Football League on Tuesday.
The 36-year-old veteran forward, Giroud, had initially put Milan in the lead with two goals against Lecce, securing a 2-2 draw away from home. However, his promising performance took a downturn when he received two yellow cards in the third minute of added time in the second half. The first card was a result of his protest against the referee's decisions, and the second was issued due to offensive remarks directed at the match official, according to the league's statement.
This suspension deals a significant blow to AC Milan, currently holding the third position in the league with 23 points, trailing their arch-rivals Inter Milan, who are leading by an 8-point margin. The absence of Giroud, the team's top scorer with seven goals since the start of the season, will be keenly felt in the upcoming matches against Fiorentina on the 25th of this month and Frosinone on the 2nd of December.
