Mourinho describes Ronaldo transfer news as "nonsense"

Portuguese coach José Mourinho of Turkish club Fenerbahçe has denied rumors suggesting he tried to contact his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo, the Saudi Al Nassr striker, to join the Turkish club, calling them "nonsense."

Mourinho previously coached Ronaldo at Real Madrid, where the duo won the La Liga title, Copa del Rey, and the Super Cup.

When asked about the possibility of signing Ronaldo, Mourinho told reporters in remarks broadcast by ESPN: "The news about Cristiano Ronaldo moving to Fenerbahçe is nonsense."

He added, "Ronaldo might come to Istanbul for dinner because it's halfway between Saudi Arabia and Portugal, or maybe he will come to see his old friend José. We can have a meal at my hotel."

Fenerbahçe faces a tough task in winning the Turkish Süper Lig title in Mourinho's first season, as his team is five points behind their traditional rival Galatasaray after 12 matches.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo is preparing for an important match with his team, Al Nassr, against Qatar's Al Gharafa on Monday in the AFC Champions League.
