Egypt Secures Fifth Place in the Handball World Championship


The Egyptian national handball team has achieved a historic milestone in the 2025 Handball World Championship, currently being held in Croatia, Denmark, and Norway, and set to continue until February 2.  



The Pharaohs secured fifth place in the rankings after the conclusion of the quarterfinal matches, marking a significant improvement compared to the previous 2023 championship, where they finished in seventh place.  


Despite suffering injuries before the tournament, the Egyptian team delivered an exceptional performance, particularly in their match against France. They narrowly lost in the final seconds with a score of 34-33 in a thrilling game that impressed fans and analysts alike.  


Denmark, Portugal, Croatia, and France advanced to the semifinals. Denmark secured a dominant 33-21 victory over Brazil, while Croatia achieved a hard-fought 31-30 win against Hungary. Meanwhile, Portugal secured an exciting 31-30 victory over Germany.  


The semifinal matches are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, with Denmark facing Portugal and Croatia going up against France.
