As His Move to City Nears, Frankfurt Excludes Marmoush from Dortmund Squad


Eintracht Frankfurt has excluded Egyptian international striker Omar Marmoush from the squad for Friday's match against Borussia Dortmund, in the opening of the 18th round of the German Bundesliga, due to "discussions with another club" believed to be Manchester City.



The 25-year-old Marmoush has been linked with City, the reigning English Premier League champions for the last four seasons, after impressing during the first half of the season with Frankfurt.


The Egyptian forward has scored 15 goals in 17 league matches, ranking second in the top scorers list behind Englishman Harry Kane of Bayern Munich, and also provided 10 assists.


The club stated on its social media accounts: "Eintracht Frankfurt is in discussions with another club regarding the transfer of Omar Marmoush. Therefore, he will not be in the team list today."


Marmoush moved to third-placed Frankfurt from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023.


According to German and international media reports, City, which is 12 points behind leader Liverpool, is preparing to pay $82 million for the signing of Marmoush.
