Brazilian forward Neymar said on Tuesday that playing again with his former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez is a possibility that should not be ruled out.
The player did not downplay the chances of a move to Inter Miami in the U.S. as his contract with Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia nears its end.
Neymar, once one of the most prominent football forwards, formed a key partnership with Messi and Suarez, leading Barcelona to achieve a historic treble before his move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 for €222 million ($230.39 million).
Neymar told CNN: "Clearly, playing again with Messi and Suarez would be great. They are my friends, and we still talk to each other."
The Brazilian winger added: "It would be exciting to reunite the three of us. I am happy at Al Hilal, happy in Saudi Arabia, but who knows, football is full of surprises."
Neymar has played only seven matches for Al Hilal since his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 for €90 million, according to media reports, as injuries kept him sidelined for extended periods. His contract expires next June.
He spent six seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 118 goals, but despite his immense success domestically, he failed to win the UEFA Champions League with the French club before moving to the Saudi Pro League.
Neymar added: "When news of my departure from Paris Saint-Germain spread, the transfer window was closed in the U.S., so I didn't have that option (moving to Miami in 2023)."
He continued: "The project offered to me (in Saudi Arabia) was very good, not just for me, but for my family as well. Going to Saudi Arabia was the best choice."
Neymar (32 years old) is Brazil's all-time top scorer with 79 goals and said he will have one final chance to win the World Cup in 2026, with six rounds remaining in the South American qualifiers for the World Cup. The top six teams directly qualify for the finals in North America, and Brazil currently sits in fifth place in the standings.
Neymar, who has not played for Brazil since injuring his ACL and meniscus in his left knee during a qualifier match in October 2023, said: "I will try. I want to be there (in the World Cup). I will do everything I can to be part of the national team squad."
He concluded his statement by saying: "I know this will be my last World Cup, and it will be my last chance (to win the title), and I will do everything I can to be part of it."
