Bayern Munich has officially announced, on Monday, the extension of the contract for their goalkeeper and team captain Manuel Neuer until 2026.
Bayern Munich issued an official statement stating: "Manuel Neuer has extended his contract with Bayern Munich, which was set to expire at the end of this season, for another year until June 30, 2026. This will be Neuer’s 15th season with the club."
Neuer commented on his contract extension, saying: "I really enjoy playing football, and I want to remain a player at Bayern. I’m still hungry and looking forward to another year at this special club. We have always had good talks. This feels good... It feels good, and we still have many goals to achieve together."
Neuer joined Bayern from Schalke in the summer of 2011 and has been the team captain since 2017.
Neuer has won the historic treble with Bayern twice (2013 and 2020), as well as lifting the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup in both of those years.
The 38-year-old player has won the German league 11 times, the German Cup 6 times, and the German Super Cup 7 times.
Neuer has made 547 official appearances for Bayern, in addition to playing 124 international matches with Germany, with whom he won the 2014 World Cup.
Neuer was named the best goalkeeper in the world by the IFFHS five times, the best goalkeeper of the decade (2011-2020) by the IFFHS, and FIFA's Men's Best Goalkeeper. He was also named Germany's Player of the Year twice.
