"Confetti": A New Event-Planning Service by Apple via iCloud

Apple is preparing to launch a new iCloud-based service for organizing invitations and events, called "Confetti," according to a report by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

The service is expected to be introduced internally this week as an innovative way to invite people to parties, events, and meetings.

"Confetti": A Standalone Service or an Added Feature in Apple Apps?

In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman revealed that the new service will be tied to the recently released iOS 18.3 update, which includes enhancements to Apple’s AI-driven notification summaries.

However, it remains unclear whether "Confetti" will be a standalone app or integrated as a feature within existing Apple apps like Messages or Calendar.

A New Competitor to Event-Planning Apps?

These details align with earlier reports that Apple has been working on a new app called "Invites," designed to organize meetings and manage event invitations, both personal and online.

With "Confetti," Apple is expected to provide a participant list for each event, along with updates on RSVPs. References to this service were reportedly discovered in the code of the latest beta version of iOS 18.3.

Integration with iCloud and Additional Features

Apple may distinguish this service from its existing Calendar app by adding new features, such as:

- Cloud storage via iCloud, allowing users to access the service through iCloud.com.

- Integration with GroupKit, a technology enabling communication and collaboration across apps and users, making it easier to organize events among different groups.

If officially launched, this service could become a strong alternative to apps like Google Calendar and Outlook for event planning and invitation management, further solidifying Apple’s position in this space.
